Marriage Is A Promise

MARRIAGE IS A PROMISE

Marriage is a promise of companionship:
Having someone to share your life with.
Marriage is a pledge of loyalty:
Giving support to your companion.

Marriage doesn’t promise eternal romance,
Just life time love.
Marriage doesn’t promise ease and comfort,
Just hope and acceptance.
Marriage can’t protect you from life,
But it can provide a warm shoulder and a comforting arm.

When the world disappoints or attacks you
And resentment and anger invade
And you wish you were some other person,
Still trust in the promises made.

Marriage is a promise and a contract;
To share sunshine and shadows;
To partner and be partnered;
To stand alongside;
To have and to hold;
To give and receive;
To love and to cherish;
For all the days ahead.
